I recently went back to a martial arts form that I started many years ago, but wasn't ready for at the time. Kung fu has always been an interest of mine, probably due to the influence of the likes of Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan. Being a Happa also helped bring out a natural interest in martial arts, which is an integral part of life overseas. And being an ex-military brat and tomboy meant that I was already used to playing in rough sports without much fear (much to my mom's dismay).
Fast forward to 2007, I finally decided that I was now ready to take on the challenges of kung fu (even though I'm much older now). I enrolled at White Dragon Martial Arts Schools, and am now studying under Sifu Houseman and his amazing teachers.
Naturally, the one thing that I can't count on is the grace typical to Asians. Suffice it to say, my limbs definitely do not take after my Asian side of my heritage. And so, I continue to pursue the art of Choy Li Fut with all of my innate gracelessness.
